It is generally accepted in the counselling world that face to face is the best way to approach therapy. The client and the therapist share the same space and are able to talk without being overheard or disrupted by anyone.
However, times move on. When COVID struck in 2019 it became necessary for therapists to learn how to do things differently. Online therapy became a ‘thing’ and it can be effective.
For you as a client, it is vitally important that you are comfortable with your therapist. It enables you to speak openly and without fear of judgement. For some people this means that online is better as they are in the safety of their own home. For others, the last thing they want is to do therapy from home.
I work with clients in both environments, online and in person at locations in Chelmsford, Colchester and Wickford.
If you have been looking at various therapists websites you will have seen that there are a lot of gimmicks out there. With me, there are no gimmicks. Just therapy as it is supposed to be, using the Psychodynamic method. You can read more about that here.
There are of course numerous other types of therapy out there. CBT, Person Centred, Integrative etc etc. Just to name a few, but I chose Psychodynamic for my practice as it allows us to get deep into the weeds with what is happening. It is hard work but worthwhile and can long-lasting, if not lifelong, effectiveness.
It is not a quick fix. If something is quick to fix, then it is often quick to get un-fixed. Many of my clients have expressed how other types of therapy wore off after a while.
Psychodynamic therapy is effective with many presenting issues, too many to effectively list. But here is a simple taste of what I can assist you with:

- Anger
- Bullying
- Bereavement
