Counselling in Chelmsford

About My Approach

I practice Psychodynamic Counselling, a therapeutic approach that explores deeper patters and emotional experiences that shape how we feel, behave and relate to others.

Rather than focusing only on immediate symptoms, we look beneath the surface. Together, we explore how past experiences, unconscious conflicts, and internal tensions might be influencing your present-day difficulties. This insight can bring lasting change—not just temporary relief.

Who I Work With

I work with adults (18+) across a wide range of issues, including:

  • Anxiety and stress
  • Depression or low mood
  • Trauma and PTSD
  • Relationship problems
  • Anger and emotional regulation
  • Issues related to identity, shame, or low self-esteem
  • Difficult experiences linked to military or emergency services life

I also offer specialist support for military personnelveterans, and first responders.

Where I Work

I offer counselling sessions:

  • In person in central Chelmsford
  • Online, for clients across the UK and Europe

Sessions are held weekly and last for 50 minutes. I offer both short-term and long-term work, depending on your needs.

Free 15-Minute Consultation

If you’re unsure whether counselling is right for you, I offer a free 15-minute consultation—online or by phone. This gives you a chance to ask any questions and get a feel for how I work, without pressure or obligation.

Confidential and Professional

I am a fully qualified psychodynamic counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Everything we discuss is treated in the strictest confidence.

What is Psychodynamic Therapy?

Psychodynamic therapy helps you explore and understand the deeper aspects of your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. Since unconscious processes often shape emotions and relationships, this therapy works to uncover hidden patterns that may affect your daily life. By taking part in this type of therapy, you can begin to understand yourself better, leading to greater insight and self-awareness.

How Does Psychodynamic Therapy Work?

Rather than just focusing on current symptoms, psychodynamic therapy looks at the root causes of emotional distress. This means exploring past experiences, relationships, and deep emotions that may still affect you today. Over time, this process can help you find relief from emotional struggles and create lasting change.

The Role of the Therapist

A key part of psychodynamic therapy is the relationship between you and your therapist. Your therapist provides a safe and confidential space where you can express your thoughts and feelings without judgment. As a result, therapy can help you:

  • Feel more emotionally strong and able to cope with challenges
  • Improve your self-esteem and confidence
  • Build healthier relationships with yourself and others

Who Can Benefit from Psychodynamic Therapy?

This therapy is especially helpful if you are struggling with:

  • Anxiety or stress that feels overwhelming
  • Depression or feeling low for a long time
  • Difficulties in relationships, including family, friends, or partners
  • A general sense of dissatisfaction or feeling stuck in life

By helping you understand yourself on a deeper level, psychodynamic therapy encourages personal growth and allows you to move forward with more clarity and confidence.

Taking the Next Step

If you are looking for confidential support to explore your emotions and improve your well-being, psychodynamic therapy is a great option.
