Counselling for Neurodivergent Adults
I offer confidential psychodynamic counselling for neurodivergent adults, including people who are autistic, have ADHD, identify with other forms of neurodivergence, or are exploring whether neurodivergence may be relevant to their experience.
You do not need a formal diagnosis to discuss neurodivergence in counselling.
Experiences you may want to explore
- Masking or feeling that you must perform a version of yourself
- Overwhelm, shutdown, exhaustion or burnout
- Anxiety, low mood, shame or low self-esteem
- Difficulties in relationships, work or education
- Feeling misunderstood, criticised or out of step with others
- The emotional impact of receiving a diagnosis later in life
- Identity, difference and previous experiences of exclusion
How counselling may help
Counselling provides a regular space to put experiences into words, notice patterns and think about the emotional meaning of what has happened. Psychodynamic work can be useful when present-day difficulties are connected with earlier relationships, repeated misunderstandings or years of adapting yourself to meet other people’s expectations.
The work will be shaped around you as an individual. Neurodivergent people are not a single group and two people with the same diagnosis may have very different needs, histories and ways of communicating.
Diagnosis and assessment
I do not diagnose autism, ADHD or any other neurodevelopmental condition, and I do not provide formal diagnostic assessments. Counselling is not a substitute for an assessment by an appropriately qualified professional.
If questions about diagnosis arise during counselling, we can think about what those questions mean for you. Where appropriate, I may discuss signposting to independent assessment or specialist support services.
Counselling for adults of all genders
I work with neurodivergent men and women. Some men have had few opportunities to speak about overwhelm, vulnerability or the pressure to cope alone; these experiences can be explored without making assumptions about you or excluding anyone from the service.

Sessions are available in Chelmsford, Colchester and online. Each session lasts 50 minutes and costs £60.
