I aim to provide counselling that is professional, ethical and respectful. If you are unhappy with any aspect of my work, you have the right to raise a concern or make a complaint.

Current Clients

If you are one of my clients then the correct place to raise a concern is during a session, this is a part of our work. We can have a completely open and honest conversation about your concern.

Former Clients

You may also raise a concern in writing using the contact form. Please explain what happened, when it happened how it can be made right etc. I will acknowledge your complaint and explain how it will be considered.

Professional standards

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work within its Ethical Framework. Complaints about the professional conduct of a BACP member may be considered under the BACP Professional Conduct Procedure.

Contacting BACP

If you do not feel able to raise the matter with me, or you believe the concern has not been resolved, you can contact BACP directly. Information about concerns and complaints is available on the BACP professional conduct website.

BACP determines whether a complaint falls within its procedure and how it should be handled. My own complaints information does not restrict your right to approach BACP.

Confidentiality and records

Information relating to a complaint will be handled with appropriate confidentiality. It may be necessary for me to discuss the matter in professional supervision, with my insurer or with a professional body. Records will be retained securely where required for professional, ethical or legal reasons. Please note that I do not routinely keep notes of sessions.

Emergency and safeguarding concerns

This complaints process is not an emergency service. If someone is in immediate danger, contact the emergency services. Further information is available on the crisis support page.
